Liberation Bunker Talk

On the 15th July, member of PRG and Scriptwriting Lecturer, Zodwa Nyoni, talked about her research and scriptwriting process for the making of the incredible new play, Liberation, as part of the Bunker Talk series.

The theme of the talk was how she managed to centralise all of the big themes that she wanted to grapple with into a comprehensible play. She did this by finding the central question that links all of these themes:
“How do we collectively show up for each other in the process of making change?”
Zodwa said, “Writing this play made me ask more questions my own activism and how I take care of myself throughout the process. How do you sustain that activist spirit? What is the cost of being an activist, and how do we show up for each other?”
For the audience questions that take place towards the end of the talk, Zodwa was joined on stage by the Director of Liberation, Monique Touko. Together they explained the difficult choices they made along the way of the creative process. A recording of the full talk will become available soon.
