Member Update: Jenny Baines

PRG member Jenny Baines had her short film Traction (2023) feature in the launch of the Southampton Film Week on Friday 14 November.

Traction (2023), by Jenny Baines, depicts a tug-of-war that features the artist in contest with herself. On Friday 14 November, in collaboration with John Hansard Gallery, City Eye welcomed artists and curators Simon Payne and Andrew Vallance for a programme of exciting, expanded cinema at Mayflower Studios. Click the link below to find out more!

Jenny also has her film being shown at Swansea Performance Weekend from Thursday 20 November – Sunday 23 November. Swansea-based artists Vivian Ross-Smith and Holly Slingsby co-curated this upcoming weekend of live performance and video works in the gallery. The programme expands and brings alive themes from Linder: Danger Came Smiling including consumption, domesticity, gender performativity, mass media, bodies, archetypal figures, and pleasure.
