Performing Archives

The Performance Research Group hosted a conference, Between Then and Now: Performing Archives earlier this week at the Royal Exchange. Over 30 speakers and presenters joined us from across the UK, mainland Europe and the US for two days of provocations, presentations and conversations. The conference interrogated the role of the archive in shaping, capturing, echoing, and contextualising performance, and sought to bring this area of thinking and practice into productive dialogue. We are interested in exploring how the archive can be a score for future development, how it can be reactivated, reanimated or re-enacted. We will now reflect on the findings of this conference and post here about any future developments. Thank you to everyone who came to speak at the conference and to those who chaired the panels, thanks to the organisers and to the Royal Exchange.
