Pedagogies, Processes and Archives of Presence

During February 2025, Dr Patrick Campbell, was in Campinas, Brazil, to take part in the second year of the international research project “Pedagogies, Processes and Archives of Presence,” funded by FAPESP (the Sao Paulo Research Foundation). The aim of the project is to critically analyse and document the pedagogical practices of LUME Teatro. Currently celebrating its 40th anniversary, LUME is a theatre laboratory and research centre based at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). LUME has performed in over 28 countries, won the 2013 Shell Prize for continued research and as a group is committed to pedagogical work through workshops, cultural exchanges, and publications. Campbell joined a team of renowned Brazilian and international researchers who together observed workshops given by members of LUME as a part of the annual February Courses event, held at the group’s headquarters in Barão Geraldo. This process of observation will result in an array of publications in Portuguese and English and will serve to promote the group’s work as leading proponents of the theatre laboratory tradition world-wide.
