Where I Belong

Michael Pinchbeck was involved in a Nottingham City of Literature and New Perspectives event at Lakeside Art Centre, Nottingham, in June 2024. Where I Belong is an exciting 12-part podcast series is a collection of short poems and stories from twelve writers living in Baghdad and Nottingham, offering a unique window into the lives of those in two distinct UNESCO Cities of Literature, featuring original writing from emerging and established artists, with an emphasis on under-represented voices. Each episode was developed through online conversations, pairing 6 writers in Nottingham with 6 writers in Baghdad, to reflect and explore themes that connect their pieces resulting in a series of duets focussed on place. Michael wrote a piece entitled The Willows in response to Sijal Al-Rekabi’s piece, Palm Tree Orchard.
