Researching a Reflexive-Dialogical approach to dance training

In May 2024, Rachel Rimmer-Piekarczyk delivered a series of contemporary dance workshops for students within the Manchester School of Theatre. The workshops explored a reflexive-dialogical (Rimmer-Piekarczyk 2017, 2018, 2023, 2024) approach to dance training, which involves utilising physical and verbal dialogues, alongside creative methods to induce critical reflection on dance practice (see images attached). Rachel has been invited to conduct further research into this area during a series of workshops and accompanying sharing of practice at the Future Flares Festival at Manchester Metropolitan University in January 2025. She is currently in the process of analysing the data gathered from the May 2024 workshops with a view to submitting a written critical analysis for a special issue of Research in Dance Education, on Critical Dance Pedagogy.
